Welcome to St Nicholas of Myra! We are a mission parish in the Byzantine Catholic Metropolitan Church sui iuris of Pittsburgh and, as such, are in full communion with the Holy See in Rome.
We welcome all to join us for Divine Liturgy (Mass), to "Come and see!" the love of Christ and the beauty of His Church.

St. Nicholas of Myra began in 1976 when Father Francis Twardzik celebrated the first Byzantine Divine Liturgy at Notre Dame Seminary to educate students about the diversity in the Universal Catholic Church. Recognizing the growing interest, Archbishop Philip Hannan gave permission for monthly services.
Father Ellis DePriest later received bi-ritual faculties and continued serving the community, which moved between several locations before being formally established as a mission under St. Nicholas of Myra's patronage in 1984. Over the years, the mission grew with additional priests joining the rotation and eventually found its permanent home at 2435 South Carrollton Avenue in 1999.
The community faced its greatest challenge when Hurricane Katrina nearly destroyed the church in 2005, forcing temporary relocation and extensive reconstruction. Through leadership changes, including Father Ellis's passing in 2009, the mission persevered.
St Nicholas is still at our Carollton Ave location, celebrating the Divine Liturgy every Sunday at our restored church. Our current priest is Father John Brown, and our administrator is Father Deacon Gregory Haddad.
